I ran this course during lockdown over the summer. It was great fun to me and the delegates. Following this I will be running a 10 week programme in Spring next year. To sign up for information on that course click here to add your name to the list.
Here’s what we did over the summer……
The information below is the original description of the course from my website.
At this time lots of people are probably missing the chance to meet up with their regular art groups, the chance to chat about what they are working on, start new projects, learn new skills and just be with arty friends and chat about their passion – making art.
Lin’s Art Group Sessions are weekly two hour drop in session. They are a chance to meet up online with fellow artists and to get back a little of what we might be missing by connecting online for some teaching, art practice and chat. You can book for one, several or all sessions.
How Does it Work?
You will need access to a computer, tablet, Ipad or, at a pinch a smartphone. Although a phone might be a bit small. This is so that you can watch Lin teaching and also join the group online at your device. You will need to download some simple software before the session and this link will be provided when you book.
In advance of the session Lin will send out some instructions and a list of the materials you will need to have to hand on the day of the “art group” so that you can join in. As people are in lockdown she will keep the list simple and to the basics. Alternatives will also be suggested.
Group size is limited to no more than 12 people so that there is time for interaction and also so that we can all see each other on the screen if you want to. You are not obliged to speak and can join and watch the teach and not say anything. Each session will last up to 2 hours so there should be lots of time to paint and chat.
The Art Group Session
Lin will teach and demonstrate an art technique or exercise in her studio and broadcast it live over the computer. You will then have the chance to have a go yourself in your own home – maybe that’s in the kitchen, on the dining room table, in the spare room or even your own studio space.
As each session is a live event you will able to get feedback on what you are doing at the time just as if it were an in person session – allowing for the limitations of showing Lin your work over your computer or tablet.
There will also be a private Facebook group that you can join as a delegate of the Art Group Sessions. This will also be a place to post images of your work for feedback and comments from other members of the group. Lin will also be in the group to comment and answer questions here as well.
As this is a new venture with live online teaching and interaction Lin is offering a couple of free taster sessions so that you can experience what the sessions might be like and decide if it is something you will enjoy before.
Sign up for a free taster session here on Monday 20th April 2 – 3pm or Wednesday 22nd April at 10am.
The teaching and exercises for the sessions will all be about how to loosen up, play with colour and collage or develop abstract work. Each week Lin will lead the group through an exercise that is designed to teach you something about how to make abstract art.
Costs: Each session is £12.50, booked and paid for online. Come to all 8 sessions and the last session is free. To take advantage of this offer, drop me an email using the form below and I will invoice you for the full amount.
Dates and Topics for the paid for groups are listed below. Each group is two hours from 2pm until 4pm UK time, apart from Monday 4th which is in the morning from 10am until 12pm. Click on each link to book an individual session or see all sessions by clicking here.
Monday 4th May 10am – 12pm: Colour Mixing (please note this is the morning group)
No refunds are available but bookings can be transferred to other dates in this programme as required.
