Art Coaching
I believe art is an expression of self and artistic development comes from within.
My role isn’t to hand over a method, but to offer structure, space, and challenge so that your own questions and direction can emerge. I design learning experiences that support exploration, reflection, and confidence — with room for both discipline and discovery.
With over 30 years’ experience teaching adults — from psychotherapy and business to creative development — I bring a deep understanding of how people learn, grow, and sustain meaningful creative work.
I’m here to offer guidance that’s spacious but grounded, supportive but stretching. You bring the vision; I help you build the path.

What We Can Explore Together
Coaching gives you the space to look at your creative life with fresh eyes — and gently untangle whatever’s holding you back. Depending on what you need most, we might explore one or more of the following areas:
Studio Practice
We can work on building a more consistent and satisfying rhythm in your art-making, one that feels sustainable rather than pressured. If you’re developing a new body of work or searching for your visual language, I can help you clarify your direction and deepen your enquiry. For those wanting to loosen up, experiment more, or shift direction entirely, we’ll look at ways to bring more curiosity and flow into your studio.
Business & Strategy
If you’re preparing to show or sell your work, we can focus on practical tools — from pricing with confidence to writing artist statements and bios that feel authentic and clear. Together, we’ll explore how to grow your visibility in a way that fits your energy and values, without burning out.
Mindset & Confidence
This work often touches on the deeper layers: self-doubt, procrastination, comparison, fear of visibility. We’ll look at these gently, with compassion. Coaching can help you navigate the inevitable ups and downs of creative life and reconnect with the joy and purpose that brought you to making art in the first place.
Every session is different — because every artist is different. We’ll work from where you are, and build from there.
How it Works
Coaching sessions take place 1:1 over Zoom, in a supportive space where you can bring whatever’s on your mind. Sessions are recorded (with your consent), so you can revisit insights in your own time.
You can choose from:
-
One-off sessions — for clarity, insight, or feedback on a specific issue
-
Short-term support — a few sessions over a focused period to explore a theme or make progress on a project
-
Longer-term coaching — regular sessions to deepen your practice, stay accountable, or navigate bigger transitions
-
Focused packages — sessions built around specific topics like developing a series, preparing for a show, or building creative confidence
After the session, you’ll receive a summary by email with key takeaways and any recommended resources — so you leave not just with inspiration, but a practical next step
About Lin
I’ve been painting and exhibiting for over 20 years, working across abstraction, mixed media, and gestural mark-making. My creative practice is rooted in curiosity — a deep love of materials, a fascination with the push and pull between structure and spontaneity, and a commitment to exploring what it means to make honest, personal work.
Before becoming a full-time artist, I spent many years teaching adults in a range of settings — from business and marketing to creative education and psychotherapy. I’m qualified to MSc level in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and hold the professional qualification of Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA). I’ve worked as a trainer, supervisor, and curriculum designer, supporting others’ development at MSc-equivalent level.
These strands — art, education, and psychotherapy — all inform how I coach. My approach is practical but spacious, structured but flexible. The depth of my TA training means I bring a strong understanding of adult learning, reflective process, and the psychological dynamics that can show up in creative work. I’ll meet you where you are, help you tune into what matters most, and offer guidance that supports both the emotional and artistic sides of your practice.
Whether you’re building momentum, shifting direction, or deepening your creative voice, I’m here to help you move forward — with more clarity, courage, and ease.
