A selection of older and recent paintings before I leave the area

I’ll be holding a small portfolio show in Tideswell this May and June, bringing together a selection of available paintings from the studio.

As I’ll be leaving the area later this year, this feels like a good moment to gather work from different points in my practice and offer people nearby a chance to see it in person.

The show will include older and recent pieces, including paintings that have not often been seen together. It will be a relaxed opportunity to view available work, ask about individual paintings, and get a clearer sense of the surfaces, scale, colour and material details that are hard to capture on screen.

About the work

The portfolio show will include a range of abstract paintings and mixed media works from recent years, alongside selected older pieces from the studio.

My work is rooted in material process, surface, colour and mark-making. The paintings often explore the balance between structure and spontaneity, with forms, lines and layers emerging through direct response to the materials.

Some pieces are quieter and more spacious; others are more gestural, textured and dynamic. Showing them together gives a broader sense of how different threads in the work have developed over time.

This is likely to be one of my last local opportunities to show work before moving, so I’d be very pleased to see you there.
