Over the past few years, my newsletter Insights from the Studio has been a place to share glimpses of my studio, new work, and updates on courses and exhibitions. Alongside that, I’ve also been writing longer reflections about art practice and teaching — pieces that dive more deeply into ideas about creativity, learning, and what it means to grow as an artist.
To give these longer essays their own space, I’ve started a Substack called Notes on Practice.
This is where I write about the things that shape how we work as artists:
- early experiences that echo into our creative lives
- ideas from psychology and education that can support studio practice
- the places where art-making and everyday life intersect
Each week I share a new piece there. Recent posts include Easter Bonnet — a reflection on early experiences of being seen — and When Teaching Misses the Mark, on what happens when the learning environment doesn’t quite work.
If you enjoy my newsletters and want to explore these ideas in more depth, you can find Notes on Practice here:
I’d love to know what resonates for you.
